Transfer to Trincomalee visiting two of the oldest Hindu temples in Sri Lanka en-route. Munneswaram Temple is situated in Chilaw district. The legend mentions that after defeating King Ravana, Lord Rama stopped at Munneswaram Temple and prayed to Lord Shiva. Manavari Temple is where Lord Rama first installed a Shiva lingam. It is the only lingam in the world that is named after Lord Rama other than Rameshwaram.
On the way visit Anuradhapura ancient city which is one of the prominent ancient capitals of the country. Upon reaching Trincomalee check-in to the hotel for dinner and the overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel before attending blessing Koneswaram temple & Shri Bhadrakali Amman Temple. Koneswaram temple is the most sacred of the Pancha Ishwarams of Sri Lanka, it was built significantly during the reign of the early Cholas and the Five Dravidians of the Early Pandyan Kingdom. Visit to Kenya Hot Water Wells where it said King Ravana stuck the earth with his sword in several spots and these fountains sprang from these points. Later on visit to The Trincomalee Natural Harbor and the marble beach. End of the day back into the hotel for dinner and the overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and leave for Kandy visiting Lekegala & Dunuwila en-route. According to beliefs the palace complex of Ravana was situated in Lake gala and his treasures, jewelleries, and costumes of Sita are buried here. It is believed that Dunuvila is the place where the final battle between Lord Rama and King Ravana took place. Visit the spice garden to experience Sri Lankaβs best culinary secrets. Learn about Sri Lanka gems at the gem museum with the option to buy some of these precious stones. End of the day attend the cultural show where traditional Kandyan dancers perform their centuries old dance routines. Check into the hotel in Kandy for a relaxing evening and dinner.
Breakfast at the hotel and leave for an early morning blessing at the Temple of the sacred tooth relic. Heads off to the Nuwara Eliya dubs as the little England due to its weather and the colonial architecture. Optional visit to Chariot Path and Sita Tear Pond given the time and the difficulty of the journey.
Visit Ramboda Falls, Viewpoint and Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple where the latter is dedicated to the God Hanuman with a very attractive 18 feet Hanuman statue. Visit the tea factory and the plantation to learn the process of making famous Ceylon tea. Upon reaching Nuwara Eliya checked into the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Early breakfast at the hotel and attend morning blessing at the Sita Amman Temple & Divurumpola. It is believed that Divurumpola temple is the place where Sita underwent the famous fire ordeal Agni Pariksha or βAgniβ test to prove her chastity to God Rama. Visit Hakgala Botanical Garden where Sita was kept during the abduction and was offered to Sita as a pleasure garden.
Ramayana mentions this place as Ashok Vatika. Leave for Ella by train to enjoy the scenic train ride while the driver and the vehicle follow the road to meet at the Ella Station.
Dinner and the overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and start discovering Ramayana trail in the area. Visit Ravana Waterfall & Ravana Ella Cave where it is believed that Ravana kept Sita hidden in these caves after the abduction. Optional visit to the other popular attractions in the area such as Nine Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam's Peak where later need a bit of a hike and average fitness level to complete. Leave for Kataragama descending from central highlands to Kataragama in southern Sri Lanka. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel before attending early Morning blessing
at the Kataragama temple dedicated to lord Kartikeya (Murugan in Tamil). Leave for Bentoat visiting Ussangoda and Galle en route. It is believed that Ussangoda is the place where King Ravana used to park his Pushpaka vimana and Lord Hanuman torched the place turning soil there to red. Visit Rumassala in Galle where Lord Hanuman dropped a part of the Sanjeevi Mountain while carrying a part of it to save Lord Lakshmana from his battle wounds. Galle city tour and visit to Dutch fort to end the day before travelling to Bentota for dinner and the overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and leave for popular leisure attractions in the area. Visit Turtle Hatchery and engage on the river safari on Madu river ecstasy. Leave for Colombo visiting another significant location of the Ramayana trail en-route. Kalaniya Rajamaha Viharaya where Vibheeshana was crowned as the king after the death of his brother Ravana.
Colombo is the commercial capital and the largest city of Sri Lanka. Engage on a city tour where our driver/guide will help you to discover Colombo and its charm during the tour. With plenty of interesting attractions to visit and a wide range of dining and shopping options, Colombo will be an unforgettable experience of your journey. Check into the hotel for dinner and the overnight stay.
Final day of the tour as all the good things are going to an end. Breakfast at the hotel before leaving for early Morning blessing Anjaneyar Temple & Sri Ponnambala Vaneswarar Devasthanam Temple.
